so everyone's complaining about the sudden change of rate of the unlimited texting service offered by the Globe. the news came out of the blue, and everyone was abrupt in reacting that the price hike is not anymore affordable.
the subscribers are fairly right about it. here's a little math in one whole month's (or 720 hours) consumption to the unlimited texting service:
UNLIMITXT15 × 30 = 450
UNLIMITXT25 × 15 = 375
UNLIMITXT50 × 6 = 300
UNLITXT20 × 30 = 600
(UNLITXTD15 × 30) + (UNLITXTN10 × 30) = 750
(9 hours × 30) + (10 hours × 30) = 570 hours / 720 hours
(which is 150 hours or 6 days less, -20.8%)for a budgeted subscriber who maximizes the use of the unlimited texting service for a whole month, the expenditure rises from 75% up to 100%, which is the doubled price of the original service. and their service text message even proudly displays "MAS PINASULIT."
have they gone mad? why make unlimited texting more expensive? is the company losing financially in the network wars? almost every guess was reasoned out, but nobody really is sure why Globe made this bold move. and blaming them won't solve this "crisis" anyway.
but one has to realize this (especially for an all-time and loyal Globe subscriber): we've depended so much on unlimited texting we've forgotten that we all started out at one peso for each 160-char message.
during the years when no unlimited text service existed, nobody clamored about the credit prices and the battle about the number of subscribers raged on. as another network bloomed and started the unlimited texting service, it was what everyone had wished for. and soon thereafter, all mobile networks started offering the unlimited texting service. simple as that.
it was the trend. with the hope of acquiring more subscribers (and also to keep from losing them), all networks have to keep up with rivals and match them with their own.
so, to those who won't avail anymore of the service, think of it as going back to basics. anyway, there are still other good stuffs that Globe offers. sure, we'll miss forwarding messages and receiving quite a number, but lest we forget the original reason why we bought a mobile phone.
and one last thing: if the prices of perishable goods, diesel, LPG tanks and tuition increase, WHY CAN'T GLOBE?! (this is supposed to be funny, but i found it sarcastic!)
